“I DON’T THINK I REALLY KNEW WHAT TO FEEL

UNEXPECTED; GUILT PREGNANCY OPTION

Meet Amanda

Amanda grew up in a small town in Alabama. At age 17, she became pregnant with her son. Amanda felt ashamed because people would make comments and point out the fact that she was 17 and pregnant.

"When I first found out I was pregnant, I didn’t even know what to think or feel."

When her son was 6, she got married to a man that had 2 kids of his own. After 5 years of marriage – enduring verbal, emotional and physical abuse, they got a divorce. Looking to fill the void in her life, she unexpectedly got pregnant with another man.

"When I found out I was pregnant again, I tried to ignore it and tell myself it wasn’t real. I literally googled – I’m pregnant, what do I do."

Knowing that she didn’t have the means to provide for another child on her own, Amanda got connected with an adoption agency. Her counselor stood by her side every step of the way to make sure she felt comfortable and made her feel loved and appreciated. Placing her child for adoption was hard but, she knew that ultimately, it was what was best.

“If there’s one thing I could tell an expectant mom it’s that is scary but, if you need help, ask for help – Don’t try to hide it or do it alone.”
