If you’re experiencing extreme financial difficulties, lack of support, behavioral problems, or difficult relationships, you may be feeling helpless when it comes to how to parent in the midst of these struggles. As you look for options, you may be considering making an adoption plan for your children, and we want to help you think through this.
“Would adoptive families take more than one child?”
Many mothers desire that their children would remain together, even if placed for adoption. The good news is that there are adoptive couples that would gladly welcome more than one child in their family! Our families have been through extensive trainings and education about adopting sibling groups, and even what adoption is like for older children.
When a family adopts your children, they first agree to the type of adoption you would like. It can be an open adoption with updates, photos, and the option of visits. You are not on your own when finding families for your baby or children. A Pregnancy Counselor can work with you to find out exactly what you would like in an adoptive family, and provide you with profile books of all families who meet those qualities.
“What if I want to place with the same family again?”
The truth is life can be unpredictable. Sometimes a birth mom may place a child with a family and later find out she is pregnant again. If this happens and adoption seems to be the best option, you may be interested in placing with the same family. The next step would be to reach out to our adoption agency so that they can speak with the family directly and help everyone to have a smooth transition.
You may be looking online for a way to give up your baby for adoption, but we want you to know that making an adoption plan is NOT giving up! Women who make adoption plans do so because they care about their children and want to provide them with things that they know they cannot provide. We are happy to help you consider all of your options so that you can decide what’s best for you and your baby.
