If you are considering an adoption plan, then you are already thinking about providing the best life for your child. You may be trying to figure out if that is in your home or the home of another family. But, if you choose another family for your child, it’s important that you know that the family will really love your baby… that they will raise your child as if he or she is their biological child! You want your baby to be thoroughly loved and cared for!
What makes our adoptive families different?
Our job is to make sure our adoptive families are loving and caring. Our families go through background checks, marriage and financial assessments, home checks, and face-to-face interviews with our staff. Our goal through all of this is to make sure we know that each family is in a good place and ready to add to their family. We educate them on adoption, birthmothers, caring for your child’s specific needs, and more! We want you to feel comfortable that any family that you choose through us is prepared to love your child and welcome them into their family.
How involved can I be in choosing the family for my child?
If you desire to personally choose the parents for your child, you can! You can talk with your pregnancy counselor about what things are most important to you about the family! Do you want your child to have siblings? Is it important that the family enjoys baseball games? Would you rather they live in the city or in the open country? You can choose anything that is important to you! Once you narrow down the families that you are excited about, you can have a virtual call or even meet a family face-to-face, if you would like. During this session, you can ask questions and really get to know them. Our desire is that you are involved as you would like to be in choosing your child’s parents. It’s so important that you feel confident and happy with your choice!
Once you have made your final decision on the family you have chosen, you can continue to have an open conversation and communicate with the family throughout the remainder of your pregnancy and throughout the life of your child.
How do I know I’m making the right decision?
We are so thankful that you care so much about the life of your child. Our job is to come alongside you as you figure out what the right step is for you and your baby. Whether that is choosing an adoptive family or choosing to parent, we want to help you make the best decision. Before you sign legal paperwork, you can change your mind at any time, whether you have already chosen a family or not. This decision is yours, and your pregnancy counselor will make sure to protect that.
